Dear journal,
The war is getting bloodier and bloodier each day, it’s not just guns that were using now where you kill one person at a time. It takes skills to shoot rifles also, because you have to be able to aim at your enemies heart from far distances. If we don’t use guns we do hand to hand combat in no mans land. I prefer using guns over hand to hand combat, because its not as personal. When your in hand to hand combat with someone you actually have to see them suffer, which is hard to take. Although i am becoming numb to the sadness of death because I see it everyday its a harsh reality for us soldiers. Its just expected to see dead bodies all around you. The red cross is trying to change some things about the war though which i'm very happy about. One of the weapons tat were using isn’t very humane according to them. Chemical weapons which we just started using outrages the red cross, because you kill mass amounts of people very painfully. They don’t believe its humane to kill people in that way. I’m hoping that the red cross will be able to outlaw the gases. They are doing so much for us, and when i get hope im going to thank all the volunteers who came to help during the war.
Dear Journal,
I’m slowly becoming more and more depressed as each day goes by I loose so many friends each day. I think it might be easier if I just stop caring about people so I don’t get hurt any more. My best friend Jay who I grew up with in south Carolina recently got shot down in no mans land. The people from red cross are taking him somewhere though, so he can get help from one of their doctors. So many more life's would be lost if the red cross wasn’t here. Soldiers would be left out in the middle of the battle fields to die, but the red cross can come help them and gives them medical help. Rumor has it that Henry Durant was shocked by all the deaths so he got the red cross organization to aid us in our war efforts. Thankfully he sent them, because we would be struggling with out them.
Dear journal,
I don’t even know what day it is anymore, it feels like they have all morphed into a never ending nightmare of bloodshed. Us soldiers don’t know when this gruesome war will end, but at this point it feels like it never will. I wake up every morning knowing that one of my friends will probably die that’s a hard reality to deal with. The shred of hope I have left is that my family is safe in the states I miss them words can’t even expound this. I write letters to them constantly it seems to be the only thing that keeps me sane anymore. Thanks to the ICRC they aid the wounded soldiers and save many life's every single day. The volunteers from the red cross also deliver letters to our families from the battlefield. I couldn't survive this war mentally if I did'nt have the red cross making it possible for me to communicate with my loved ones at home. Some say by the time the war is over the redcross will have delivered over 20 million letters and 1.9 million parcels. That is amazing that the red cross is able to do that much for us. The red cross organization also provides us with postcards that show scenes from the camps. This provides our famlies with solace, because they can see what were doing on a day to day basis. I hope someday they win the Nobel peace prize for all that there doing. From helping wounded soldiers, and giving us soldiers hope everyday... they're amazing. I hear a woman named Clara Burton got the red cross started, she is a saint in my eyes. I hope she realizes how much her organization has helped us all.
